7 Ways You Can Improve Your Security

Have you ever wondered what you could do to the security of your business to make it impenetrable? Does your business pass the test for being secure enough?

There is no doubt that crime rate tends to increase during the holiday season, as everyone is spending time with their families. We have created a list on ways you can secure your property/business before the holidays and prevent anything happening to your business.

1. Surveillance cameras

When discussing security, the first thing people would start to look at would be surveillance cameras. Better known as CCTV cameras, this is one of the more efficient ways to monitor your business while you’re away. Since surveillance cameras have been mass produced and developed to such a standard, you are able to pick one up for a little as £100. Nowadays, surveillance cameras can be monitored remotely, providing the user with a live feed and access to footage.

2. Intruder and Fire alarms

Whether it’s a business or a home, fire and intruder alarms are a must. These security systems can sometimes be the very thing that could save your life. If you already have alarm systems installed, when was the last time you have had them serviced and checked? This is because alarm systems can often get outdated or even become faulty over time. It is crucial to regularly check up on these systems as they act as a layer of defence against intruders and fires.

3. Security lighting

Built for deterrence, security lighting activates when an individual is within proximity of the device. The device shines a bright light alerting you and others nearby that there is a presence on the property. Often placed in the darker areas or blind spots of a business, it would assist in deterring unwanted visitors on your premises. Intruders usually like to stay hidden and mostly try to break in and enter using blind spots and dark spots as an advantage.

4. Access control

Usually when your business begins to grow, you can often miscount the people who are supposed to be at the location. Access control can help in stopping potential security breaches from occurring internally as you are able to identify who is coming in and out of the business. To prevent security breaches you could possibly implement a fob or keypad system at your business. Recently one of our clients have decided to implement fob and keypad systems which was set into play to prevent unwanted guests.

5. Defences

Security barriers and fences act an outer layer of defence for businesses. These defences that you see on a day to day basis are used by nearly every business nowadays, which restrict people from accessing the property. With the addition of surveillance cameras and security personnel, your business would be able to differentiate visitors from intruders and get the issue resolved as soon as possible.

6. Locks

Recently have you checked if your doors and windows are locked when you close for the day?

Most often than not, locks on doors and windows are left unlocked which can lead to a break in. Roughly 30% of all burglaries are through an open window or an unlocked door. With crime rate increasing during the festive season you don’t want to take that chance as it could set your business back.

7. Security personnel

Warehouse. storage unit, showroom or office. Security personnel deal with all security issues that occur onsite. Relating back to access control, security personnel can be maximised as access control permitting the right people from entering. Personnel can often become costly for a business, but is a great investment which betters your business in the long run.
